Spray tanning booths have become very popular today. In the rush to add this service to their business, many salon owners fail to realize one of the main risks involved. Because the use of water is vital to all spray on booths, the potential for water damage because of ruptured hoses or faulty connections is high.

For instance, through no fault of your own, a hose could break overnight and flood your entire salon (along with you neighbors shop!). Simply put, if you don't take extra precautions other than the factory install, there is a good chance that at some point, you will be faced with water damage of some sort. Below is a list of some preventative measures you can take to ensure your salon is protected.

Water Claim Prevention Tips

Add floor drains to all rooms. Although this may sound obvious, it's suprising how ofter this is overlooked.
Fit all spray tan booths with automatic shut-offs that are tied to the main light switch. If you turn off the lights, it means your business is closed. If that action also shuts off the water to your spray booth, you chance of having water damage is greatly minimized.
Instruct all employees on how to turn off the water in case of a leak. It should be standard procedure during the hiring process to show them where the main shut-off valve is located and how to turn it off in the event of a water leak.
It is also a good idea to set up a schedule to check for water leaks periodically. You could check every evening as part of the closing procedure or incorporate the inspection into the cleaning of the unit or another maintenence schedule, such as cleaning bathrooms.
