After three busy days, another successful ITA World Tanning Expo is in the books. This year's expo was held at the Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. It is the largest North American tanning trade show. We continued our prize giveaways with over $2,100 in cash going to attendees. We had a total of seven prize winners with our grand prize winner taking home over $1500 in cash. Our grand prize was a jar of money. Everyone who entered had a chance to guess how much they thought was in the jar. The guess closest to the actual amount won the money.
This show's winner was Becky Lowe of Island Tan in Franklin, Virginia. Her guess of $1519.10 was only $1.36 off the actual amount of $1,517.74. Congratulations to Becky! (Above, Becky, on the left, is with shown holding her check with the manager of the salon, Mindy Vann)

On January 13th in Greensboro, North Carolina, Insurtec exhibited at the 13th annual American Sun Systems Expo on January 28th. Tanning certification was offered and there were many other vendors present to answer all your questions along with a great lineup of speakers. The show was a success with around 800 attendees. Be sure to add this event to your 2007 calendar.
On February 4th, Heartland Tanning held their annual symposium in the Kansas City area. Heartland has been putting on this show for years and over 700 salon owners and employees attended. In addition to certification, they held a 'garage sale' along with vendor presentations and booths.
Despite the harsh weather conditions, many dedicated salon owners made the trip to the Northeast Tanning Expo, hosted by Future Industries on January 14th and 15th, 2006. The show was a big success with over 400 attendees and a busy show floor. This regional tanning show featured a trade show floor and tanning certification provided by Smart Tan. The show also featured at least $500 in free samples to each attendee with $25,000 being given away in various raffles.
Salon Support hosted their 5th annual regional show and training session aptly titled "Nashville To You" on November 12, at their new distribution center in Fort Worth, TX. The show included a certification session provided by NTTI and a trade show floor. With over 700 attendees, the show floor was very busy we were proud to sponsor the luncheon. This show has been picking up steam and has become a big success in TX for Salon Support.
Attendees were treated to many free samples and five different training classes focusing on salon management. Salon Support presented the grand opening of the new Salon Support Tanning Equipment Showroom which features ETS tanning beds, spray tan units, and a constantly changing variety of pre-owned tanning equipment. Thanks to all those who attended.
In May's issue of Island Sun Times, there is a special feature called 'Women in Tanning' that spotlights some of the women in the tanning industry. The feature includes company owner's, sales representatives and marketing professionals. One of our representatives, Natalea Hoeper is included in the feature.
With the popularity of spray tanning booths soaring, salons need to be aware of possible water damage claims and how to prevent them. Check out this page for some preventative measures you can take to reduce your risk.

Becky is from Fayetteville, Arkansas and is associated with Accelerated Tanning. Congratulations to Becky. Another great show, another winner. It all happened at the biggest tanning trade show ever, the ITA World Expo in Nashville, October 25-27, 2001. Here's the scenario: Trade show attendees guessed how much money was in our jar and the closest to the correct amount, could take it home. Michelle, from Leominster, Massachusetts, was our grand prize winner. She had the closest guess at $401.56 while the actual amount was $402.63. That makes her only $1.07 off! Michelle was attending the trade show as an employee of Theresa Bolduc's Tanning and is being trained as a tanning consultant. That's Michelle on the right and Theresa on the left. Congratulations to Michelle and a big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and entered our contest.
Insurtec is proud to announce the winner of our money jar at the Today's Image Tanning Expo in Las Vegas. Basically, we had a jar of money at our booth and everyone took a guess at how much was in it. The lucky person who was closest to the actual amount would carry it right out the door. Imogene Peaster of Dewey, Oklahoma, was our winner. Her guess of $362.38, was within 14 cents of the actual amount of $362.52. It would have been tough to count it out and be any closer!
Imogene was in Las Vegas with her family representing her salon, T-Total X-posur. Whether or not Imogene made it out of the casino with all the money has yet to be determined, but she just couldn't believe she was that close. Congratulations to Imogene!
